disciplinary action can be taken. 9.6.3.2 A daily standby rate can be given to a backup employee if the on-call designee experiences severe weather or a life changing event/emergency, and is unable to respond. 9.6.3.2.1 The backup employee is paid for the number of days he/she must pull calls, and the on-call designee’s standby time is reduced to the amount of days they were actually available. 9.6.3.3 Utility Billing standby is only a total of 7.75 hours. 9.6.3.4 Straight pay can be used for exempt and non-exempt employees. 9.6.3.4.1 Anything physically worked over 40 hours by a non-exempt employee, will be paid at the time and a half rate. 9.6.3.5 Email verification from the supervisor is required for an employee who is receiving regular pay, but comments “on call” on their timesheet. 9.6.3.6 Leave time can result in someone getting paid at straight time. 9.6.3.6.1 Example: If an employee takes 8 hours of vacation time on Monday, then worked 12 hours on Wednesday, he/she would only receive 4 hours of straight pay because 40 hours were not physically worked. However, if 44 hours are worked, the employee would receive time and a half for the extra 4 hours.
