Anthony is one of the many dedicated Raleigh Water Employees who attended the recent service awards employee recognition luncheon at the Raleigh Convention Center in June. Anthony will be celebrating 17 years of service to the City in July!

City of Raleigh is awarded Trimble 2024 Infinity Award for Excellence in Asset Lifecycle Management The Infinity Awards were announced in a special ceremony at the Trimble Innovate 2024 User Conference in Cleveland, Ohio. At Innovate, nearly 1,400 Trimble customers, business partners and other industry leaders gathered for three days to explore strategies and solutions for asset lifecycle management — a holistic approach to efficiently managing property and infrastructure assets from their inception to their long - term operation and maintenance. "We congratulate all the Infinity Award winners on achieving impressive levels of digital innovation and real results that will benefit their communities for generations to come," said Cyndee Hoagland, senior vice president of Trimble's Owner and Public Sector. "These honorees demonstrate that, regardless of your organizational size, budget or focus, you can deliver efficiently, affordably and sustainably by connecting data, teams and processes across all phases of the asset lifecycle." The overall Infinity Award winner for 2024 is the City of Raleigh, North Carolina, which saves millions of dollars annually using industry best practices and Trimble digital solutions for design ing, building, operating and maintaining its infrastructure. The other winners span three categories of Infinity Awards — Excellence, Growth and Trailblazer — reflecting their diverse strengths in using digital technologies for capital improvement and infrastructure management.

Congresswoman Ross Tours EM Johnson WTP for PFAS Awareness Week

On June 5th, Congresswoman Deborah Ross and NCDEQ Secretary Elizabeth Biser visited with Raleigh Water Director Whit Wheeler, Assistant Director Ed Buchan, WTP Division Manager Chris Phelps, and Operations Superintendent Mike Hughes at the EM Johnson Water Treatment Plant. Discussion included PFAS treatment challenges, overall utility infrastructure needs and the benefits of a permanent water and sewer utility assistance program. One current construction project going on at EMJ involves the expansion of a powder activated carbon treatment program that removes PFAS from the water.

In April, CC&B had their quarterly full staff meeting at Lake Woodard in rooms 111 & 112 and welcomed several new employees! They also played “ People Bingo ” - a fun get to know one another game. The room was packed with staff introducing themselves and finding categories they “ matched up ” with one another. It was a great time with some friendly competition and some fun prizes! There was also important information shared about CC&B ’ s two big upcoming projects, CC&B Application Migration to the Cloud and Replacing current Customer Web Self Ser vice Portal with New Customer Portal and work being done over the next 14 months.

The seeds we have planted within one another, whether it be thru motivation, teamwork, encouragement, positive conversation when someone is having a not so good day or just a simple hello with a smile have come to fruition. “ There is a seed of success inside each of you. Let it grow. Keep it alive! ”

In the month of May, the Employee engagement Team (EET) gave each employee a unique goodie bag “ Never Stop Growing with CC&B!! ” The bag was filled with a flowerpot, soil & water, and various seeds as just a small token of appreciation for everyone ’ s hard work and dedication to making CCB a great place to work. It was a creative way to remember there is something new, fresh, and exciting budding inside every person– always an opportunity to grow and develop. Now, just like employees beginning to learn something new, the seedlings are growing at various levels; some are growing together, and some are growing individually which sort of mirrors how different people learn at different paces and some in a group and some on their own. A fun, different and enjoyable way to think about growth and development.

Raleigh Water welcomed a total of 224 potential candidates on May 3 rd and 4 th during our annual Job Fair. The event was a huge success and we received extremely positive feedback from all the individuals who came out to visit us. Over half of the attendees said they heard about the fair from friends and family, so we appreciate all of you spreading the word! A BIG Thank You to everyone who helped make it happen either through volunteering or holding it down in the field or office while we worked the event!

Tamika, Rebecka, and Chirita all participated in the Tar Heel 10 Miler and the Fleet Feet 4 Mile Run that took place in April at Chapel Hill. These races benefit the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Chapel Hill - Carrboro YMCA ’ s We Build People Campaign. Thank you to these three for their inspiration in being active and giving back and making a difference in the community in their personal time!
