DEVELOPMENT AND PLAN REVIEW UTILITIES SPECIALIST

Position Specific Responsibilities Might Include: Positions assigned to Water Distribution may be responsible for:

Class Code: 012410

 Performs valve operations for shutdowns and to assist with determining line configuration  Performs water quality investigations by investigating the water system for closed valves or aged infrastructure  Performs site surveys with specialized equipment to locate water, sewer, and fiber lines  Assists with issuing System Pressure Advisories and taking samples for wa- ter quality  Documents the site survey by mapping the assets, providing PDF electronic maps, and using GIS unit for updates  Conducts field investigations to solve system anomalies QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED and four years of maintenance experience. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless other- wise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Licensing/Certifications Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Knowledge of:  Practices and methods of coaching and leading the work of others (based on assignment).  Techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing, assigning and monitor- ing work (based on assignment).  Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.  Basic mathematical concepts.  Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices.  Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.  Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations (based on assign- ment).  Customer service principles.  Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.  Modern office technology.  Basic GIS Applications (Collector & PUMA)

SALARY RANGE: $18.39 - $29.73 Hourly $38,242.00 - $61,828.00 Annually
