Incumbents lead technical and specialized skilled work, while perform- ing the most complex tasks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Duties:

 Plans, prioritizes, schedules, coordinates and performs technical and special- ized skilled work in providing operational, technical and maintenance sup- port for the City’s water distribution system.  May serve as lead worker by assigning work and monitoring work comple- tion.  May participate in hiring activities and performance evaluations.  Monitors and ensures safe working conditions and environment; identifies potential hazards and initiates or coordinates corrective action to maintain safety; ensures availability, maintenance and operability of safety and work- related equipment; monitors processes and activities to assure quality.  Meets and communicates with contractors, design professionals and other stakeholders regarding construction or special projects; reads and interprets maps, charts and technical drawings; performs or oversees utility locates; provides operational support in the coordination of project work.  Prepares, maintains and/or reviews reports, data, forms, permits, and/or code enforcement investigations; monitors, tracks and maintains inventory levels; initiates ordering to replenish supply levels or purchase new items.  Responds to inquiries, complaints, issues and information requests from in- ternal and external customers; addresses and resolves problems and com- plaints; monitors compliance with applicable regulations, standards, policies and procedures.  Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES:  Oversees field staff’s daily duties as field staff Supervisor in repairs, replace- ments and/or daily inspections of Fire Hydrants; to include assignments with annual in-house flushing project.  Install’s, replaces, and repairs assets such as water services, mains, fire hy- drants, split services, sample station’s, and auto flushers.  Responds to emergency and after hours calls of hit fire hydrant, water main breaks, as well as contractor damages.  Must be able to use a locator to set up jobs as well as a leak detector to deter- mine the exact location of leaks that occur.  Data entry into CityWorks program such as time/labor, equipment, and in- ventory used on a job as well as enter comments/updates about how the job is going or any issues that have risen on a jobsite.  Able to send emails and communicate with managers and train employees.  Maintains truck logs and inspection logs for CDL vehicles as well as loading and unloading equipment from trailers.  Required to work after hours on an on-call rotating repair call crew. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED and four years of maintenance experience. Primary Duties:

Class Code: 012420

 Oversees field staff’s daily duties as field staff Supervisor in repairs, replace- ments and/or daily inspections of water valve assets with-in Distribution system; to include assignments with annual in-house flushing project.  Install’s, replaces, and repairs assets such as water services, mains, fire hy- drants, split services, sample station’s, and auto flushers.  Responds to emergency and after hours calls of hit fire hydrant, water main breaks, as well as contractor damages.  Must be able to use a locator to set up jobs as well as a leak detector to deter- mine the exact location of leaks that occur.  Data entry into CityWorks program such as time/labor, equipment, and in- ventory used on a job as well as enter comments/updates about how the job is going or any issues that have risen on a jobsite.  Able to send emails and communicate with managers and train employees.  Maintains truck logs and inspection logs for CDL vehicles as well as loading and unloading equipment from trailers.  Required to work after hours on an on-call rotating repair call crew. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED and four years of maintenance experience. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successful- ly perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless other- wise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Licensing/Certifications Valid North Carolina Class A Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to obtain within 45 days.
